The Wendy Barker Dance Studios, established in 1998 is for all children who want to learn to dance. If a career in dance is your goal, we provide the necessary classes and performance opportunities to set you on your journey. If you are here for pleasure and personal development, welcome. Dancing should be fun and we hope you will learn to love it. This doesn't happen without commitment and hard work as dance is an exacting art that must be learned slowly and methodically.
Throughout the year, there are many activities that keep us very busy.
- The Dance Festival is held around Easter time and is designed as a stepping stone for children to gain confidence in their stage performance and help prepare for the greater demands of the Eisteddfod. Performing in the Dance Festival does not mean you are automatically ready to enter the Eisteddfod, but it is a first step.
- Ballet and Tap exams are held during the year and those who participate are required to take extra classes.
- Our End of Year Concert gives everybody a chance to shine including parents!
- Tanyalla Summer Dance Camp, now under the umbrella of the Young Dancers Company of Central Queensland is a unique program for the region, providing accommodation, meals and classes at affordable prices. This allows students to gain new skills by working with International Master Teachers, Professional Dancers & Choreographers.
